The Woolie’s baseball team has moved to above .500 with the win last Wednesday over Leicester (9-9). The 4-1 win over Leicester improved the teams overall record to 10-9. The Woolies also look to gain a win over Blackstone-Millville (4-13). This win would help get better seeding in the district tournament, starting next Wednesday. The most impressive victory this season came in the first game of the season, a 6-5 victory over Oxford (10-9). Other tough games include Northbridge (9-10), a 2-1 loss in a pitching duel. Another tough game was against Assabet Valley (17-3), who is looking to possibly be the #1 seed in districts.

Although the Woolies are possibly going to be one of the lowest seeds in the tournament, it is definitely going to be a battle with the standout pitching of Jack Remuck. Remuck is leading the team with a 2.00 ERA, 26 K’s, and 13 BB. Also in the bullpen is Ryan Tarasiak. Tarasiak has the second best ERA on the team coming in at 4.74, also with 24 K’s and 10 BB.  These pitchers are supported by the offensive of Mason Broyles, Brady McCarthy, Edwin Cochran-Valentin, and Max Kolifrath. Broyles is leading the team in batting average .316 along with 18 hits, 9 RBI’s and 11 runs scored. McCarthy comes in as the team leader in hits with 21. Although falls short on batting average at .313 to Broyles due to number of at bats. McCarthy also leads the team in runs scored at 16, along with recording 6 RBI’s. Cochran-Valentin comes in with also a .313 batting average but only has 15 hits recorded. Kolifrath is the SWCL leader in home runs with 3 and also is a team leader in RBI’s with 11, while maintaining a .309 batting average and 17 hits.
