The Millbury Fire Explorer Post, established in 2009, which allows Boys and Girls age 14 to 21 to learn group dynamic and fire safety for a possible transition to a firefighter. This program is every other Tuesday night at 6:30pm, at Station One in the center of Millbury.

The Explorers get to train with the Fire Chiefs of the Millbury Fire Department, Chief Sliver and Chief Hamilton are mainly the personnel that teach the lessons. These lessons range from learning what tools are in each truck to search and rescue. Explorers even have their own protective gear and uniforms.

Once in the system Explorers, if needed at a scene of a fire, are toned out with the women’s auxiliary, most of our calls are huge fires or brush fires. Yet it is a great social and learning experience.
