Today we had a chance to talk with Ashleigh and Noah from Mrs. DeMaria’s 7th grade science class about the lab they were working on.  They were testing different size parachutes and the effect of the size each had on the speed each would fall.  They took turns dropping the parachute from the stairwell and timing the speed of the fall.  They said the size did make a slight difference; the larger the parachute the slower it fell.

In the tests we saw the small parachute fell just under 2 seconds per drop.  The meduim and large were very similar in speed most around mid 2 seconds per drop. The extra large parachute took over 3 seconds per drop. The best drop was 3.99 seconds.
