We had a chance to stop in music productions and recording class this week.  This is a new class for 2018-19 at MHS taught by Mr. Dooley.  This class is taught in a computer lab and no music experience is required.  Students are introduced to the technology behind music creation of pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, and other genres.  Students use the web based program Soundtrap to record and make the music.  Students in the class learn about different beats and what goes together and what does not.  They learn now to make a song from scratch starting from the beat, bass, and then adding in the chorus.  Students use MIDI keyboards to add to and create their music.

One student we interviewed liked how it was very self based.  “You can mess with things and make it to your standards.”  Another students favorite part of the class was making and recording the podcasts.

This is an exciting new class that allows students to learn and enjoy music in a way they may not have thought of before.
