On Thursday the business club hosted a trip to the Boston Museum of Science where students had the chance to learn about different careers available at the museum as well as having the opportunity to see a show in the planetarium.  The first part of the trip started off not as planned with more traffic than usual making what is normally a one hour trip now a two hour trip into the city.  Once we arrived at the museum we had a chance to hear from and ask questions to a few of the museums employees.  Among the employees was an individual from marketing, HR, and audio visual and technology departments.  It was interesting to learn about careers that one might not think of when they think about a museum. They also told us about the many other jobs that are available at the museum as well as what they like about working at the MOS.

After talking with the panel and having lunch we saw a show in the Planetarium.  Our school was the only individuals in the show.  This was an interactive show about the universe that had us answering questions, taking our best guesses, and deciding where to go next in the galaxy.  It’s amazing how small we are in the universe overall.

After our show we had the chance to talk with tow of the employees that put on the planetarium show.  We learned about their jobs and where and what they went to college for.  Did you know they create all of their own shows?  They have their own 3D designers.  They explained it as a miniature version of Pixar.  They even create shows for other planetariums.

It was a quick in and out trip but overall we learned a lot about various careers (and the galaxy) on our visit to the Museum of Science in Boston.
