Earlier this week a group of 7th graders had the opportunity to visit the wastewater treatment plant located in Millbury.  Students had a close up first hand look at how all of our waste is treated.  This is what some of the students had to say about the trip.

Marly- “It’s was very interesting and intriguing to see what our waste turns into because what happened to our waste after it was flushed. I learned a lot”

Audrey- “ The trip was very informational and way more fun than I was expecting. I was also comforted in knowing that our waste can improve the community.”

Peyton-  “ This field trip was one of my favorites however once it got to the filter cake room, you can really smell it. Oh, and remember don’t slip into any poop water.”

Tyler- “It smelled bad”

Nicole- “ It was a very interesting trip and it provided a look into different job opportunities. And I definitely recommend it to the coming grade.”

Me- “ I actually learned a lot. I never knew how much science and engineering went into running a wastewater water plant. The slow flow tanks and some of the filter rooms had a lot of engineering behind it. I liked how the plant also incorporates bacteria to clean the wastewater. I also never knew they take the waste from the water and turn them into cakes before burning it.”
