If you plan on going apple picking, now would be the time to go. There are many great places to go like Berlin Orchards (Berlin), Tougas Family Farm (Northborough), and Stowe Farm right here in Millbury. I went to Tougas Farm and it was great because there were so many different apples to choose from. The most popular one this year is Honeycrisp. They are very juicy and crisp and since everyone likes them I think they might run out soon. Another good, crisp apple is Crimson Crisp. Those are more on the tart side though. If you are into sweet apples, I would recommend Gala, Red Delicious, or my favorite, Empire. Those are all sweet and also great to cook with if you plan on making apple pie or apple crisp. The prices range from $20-$30 per 10 pounds depending on what place you go to. There are also other fun activities to do at those places like pumpkin picking and some hay rides. Berlin Orchards and Tougas Farm are open most days through the end of October, while Stowe Farm is only open on weekends. Like I said, October is a great time to go, even if you have to take a day off from school.
